The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Cllr Peter Johnston recently visited Apeer Doors and Lumi Windows in Ballymena to get a better understanding of what they do and how the Council can continue to support their growth and development.
Mayor Councillor, Peter Johnston said:
“It was a pleasure to meet recently with the senior management team of Apeer Doors and Lumi Windows including Managing Director, Asa McGillian, Production Director, Chris Wilson and Group Sales Director, Alex Moore. “Discussions centred on the company’s growth over the last five years and how despite COVID-19 they have managed to keep the company in a strong growth position by targeting specific elements of the market and focusing on quality. I was also keen to hear about how they have been dealing with BREXIT and the additional challenges in bringing components into Northern Ireland from Great Britain.”
Apeer Doors and Lumi Windows are currently working on a number of bespoke projects with the company forecasting further plans for growth. The new extension to their site will also assist with the workflow and efficiency of the factory.
Cllr Johnston continued:
“It was beneficial to discuss with the company how the Manufacturing Task Force, led by Council, can continue to benefit industry in relation to skills, supply chain and productivity initiatives, with the company already playing an active role in the steering team.”
Managing Director, Asa McGillian said:
“I was delighted to welcome the Mayor to our Ballymena site recently to showcase the work of Apeer Doors and Lumi Windows. It was great to see his genuine interest in the company and how Council could support us going forward.
“We are proud members of the Manufacturing Task Force and look forward to continuing to work closely with the council as they support our growth and development. It is great to know that we can reach out to our council officer at any time for assistance.”
