Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after a violent aggravated burglary in County Antrim on the evening of Sunday 6th July.
According to Detective Sergeant McVeagh, the incident occurred shortly after 11.30pm in the Whitewell Road area of Newtownabbey when three masked men forced their way into a house.
“The male occupant of the property was at home at the time, and upon seeing the men make their way up the stairs, struck one of them over the head with an iron,” said Detective Sergeant McVeagh.
The suspects, who were dressed in dark clothing with gloves, hoods, and face coverings, responded aggressively.
“The intruders… began to retreat down the stairs, swinging a number of weapons at the occupant. They were then reported to have fled from the property in the direction of the Antrim Road,” the detective added.
The resident sustained injuries to his head, finger, and forearms and was later treated at hospital.
Police have launched an investigation and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
“Enquiries are continuing this morning, and detectives would ask anyone who may have any information which might assist, to contact 101, and quote reference number 1643 of 06/07/25,” said Detective Sergeant McVeagh.
