The Marine Hotel in Ballycastle, County Antrim
A landmark hotel on Northern Ireland’s north coast is set for a major new chapter, as the owners of the Marine Hotel Ballycastle announce a strategic partnership designed to secure its long-term future and unlock further growth.
Claire Hunter and Colum McLornan have confirmed the appointment of Schulte European Group as the hotel’s new management operator, marking a significant shift after 13 years of hands-on ownership.
A strategic move for long-term growth
The decision follows careful consideration by the owners, who revealed they had explored selling the hotel in 2025 before opting instead for a partnership model that allows them to retain ownership.
Colum McLornan said:
“We considered selling the hotel in 2025, but the opportunity to retain ownership while partnering with an experienced operator made this an easy decision. It secures the long-term future of the Marine Hotel while allowing us to focus on other business interests.”
The move is aimed at positioning the four-star seafront hotel to capitalise on growing international tourism, particularly across golf, leisure, and North Coast travel markets.
Shared vision for the future

Friday in Ballycastle – Vincent Levy (Managing Director Europe at Schulte Hospitality Group) , Claire Hunter (Marine Hotel), and Olga Henry (Marine Hotel General Manager).
Claire Hunter said the alignment in values was a key factor in selecting the new operator.
“After spending time with Vincent and the Schulte team in Ballycastle, it was clear they share our vision for the Marine Hotel. Their experience and understanding of both the local and international market make them the ideal partner to take the hotel forward while preserving its unique character.”
Despite the operational change, continuity will remain a priority. General Manager Olga Henry will continue to lead the hotel on a day-to-day basis, ensuring stability for both guests and staff.
Sustainability at its core
The Marine Hotel Ballycastle has built a strong reputation not only for hospitality but for its environmental and community ethos. It is one of only two hotels in Northern Ireland to achieve B Corp certification, reflecting high standards in sustainability and responsible business practices.
This commitment, the owners say, will remain central as the hotel evolves under its new management structure.
Unlocking potential on the Causeway Coast
Schulte European Group, which oversees a growing portfolio of hotels and hospitality ventures across Europe, brings international expertise and operational systems aimed at enhancing performance and guest experience.
Vincent Levy said:
“We are proud to partner with the Marine Hotel Ballycastle at such an exciting stage in its journey. Claire and Colum have built something truly special, and we look forward to supporting the team in unlocking its full potential while preserving its strong identity and values.”
Looking ahead
Set against the backdrop of the Causeway Coast, the Marine Hotel is well placed to benefit from continued tourism growth in one of Northern Ireland’s most sought-after destinations.
The hotel will continue to welcome both returning and new guests throughout 2026 and beyond, with its family-friendly offering and local character remaining at the heart of its appeal.
