Man released on bail after woman’s death in Co Antrim

A 40-year-old man arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Newtownabbey has been released on bail pending further enquiries, police have confirmed this evening, Monday, 13th October.
Emergency services, including officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, were called to a property in the Old Mill Drive area on Sunday afternoon, 12th October.
A woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Detective Chief Inspector Tom Phillips, from the Major Investigation Team, said:
“My thoughts are, first and foremost, with the woman’s family who are left trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved one.”
He added that, following a post-mortem examination, the woman’s death is not being treated as murder at this time, but investigations remain ongoing.
“Following a post-mortem examination, the woman’s death is not being treated as murder at this time. Our enquiries, however, are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death,” DCI Phillips said.
He continued:
“I would appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 701 of 12/10/25.”
Police cordons and a visible presence remain in the area as officers continue to investigate.
