A young man has been taken to hospital after he was found lying unconscious on the street in the Ballykeel II area of Ballymena.

Residents in Ballykeel awoke on Thursday morning to discover an area cordoned off by police in the middle of the estate. It would appear that a box has been placed over an item at the roadside.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland stated:

"Police in Ballymena received a report of a collapsed male in the Orkney Drive area, in the early hours of Thursday 12th October.

"The report was received at around 3.45am, that a man, aged in his 20’s, had been found unconscious in the street and taken to hospital by ambulance staff.
