Man hospitalised after knife wounds in Ballymena street fight

Police in Ballymena are appealing for information following a serious incident on Larne Road on Friday evening, in which a man sustained suspected knife wounds.


Officers were called to the scene shortly before 7.30pm on Friday, 19 September, after receiving a report of men fighting in the area.



A man was found with injuries to his face and hand, believed to have been caused by a knife. He was taken to hospital for treatment.


Police confirmed that a 28-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody at this time.



A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said:

Police have not released further details but confirmed that investigations are continuing.
