A man has sadly died following a serious road traffic collision in the Nutts Corner area of County Antrim, police have confirmed.

The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, 12th July, on Ballyhill Road and involved a white Volkswagen Golf.

In a statement issued by the Police Service of Northern Ireland, Roads Policing Inspector Cherith Adair from the Collision Investigation Unit said:

“Our officers received and responded to a report of a collision involving a white VW Golf in the area at approximately 5.50pm.”

Emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene. However, despite their efforts, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male passenger who was travelling in the car was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Inspector Adair added:

“The Ballyhill Road was closed while detectives conducted enquiries and has now re-opened.”

Police have launched a full investigation and are appealing to the public for assistance.

“The investigation remains ongoing, and we would ask anyone with mobile phone or dash cam footage, or information which might assist, to get in touch,” Inspector Adair said.

“The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1615 of 12/07/25.”

Authorities are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle prior to the collision or captured footage that could aid detectives in establishing the circumstances.
