Man dies after altercation as detectives launch murder investigation

A man in his 40s has died following an altercation at a property in Portadown, prompting a murder investigation and the arrest of two suspects.


Police were called to the incident in the Ranfurley Road area late on Thursday night, where emergency services attended the scene. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead.



Detectives say the investigation is now underway as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.


Two men arrested as police launch appeal


Detective Chief Inspector Bradley, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, confirmed the details of the response.


He said:


“We received a report at around 11pm last night, Thursday 26th March, that man was injured following an altercation at the property in the Ranfurley Road area.



“Officers attended, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. Sadly, a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.


“Two men aged in their 50s have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They are currently in police custody.


“We have launched a murder investigation and are appealing to anyone who believes they may have information which could assist us with our investigation, any dashcam or doorbell footage to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1809 26/03/26.”

Detectives are urging anyone who may have been in the area or who has relevant footage to come forward as enquiries continue.
