A 23-year-old man has been charged with riot following a police investigation into recent disorder in Ballymena, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed.

The individual is due to appear before Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 16th June.

A PSNI spokesperson stated:

“Detectives investigating disorder in Ballymena have charged a man to court. The 23-year-old has been charged with riot and is due to appear before Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 16th June.”

The charge stems from ongoing investigations into unrest in the town, although no further specific details of the incident have been released at this stage.

In keeping with standard judicial procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS), which will assess the evidence to determine whether a prosecution should proceed.

This development marks the latest in a series of police efforts to address public disorder and ensure accountability. Authorities have urged anyone with information related to disturbances in the area to come forward.
