Man charged with attempted murder following stabbing in Antrim

Detectives investigating a report of a stabbing in the Oakburn area of Antrim which occurred yesterday, Monday 25th March, have charged a man to court.


The man, aged 24-year-old, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of a Class B controlled drug.



Shortly before 1.30pm yesterday, police received a report that a man had been stabbed in the chest. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, said to be serious, but not life threatening at the time.


The man was arrested a short time later. He is expected to appear before Coleraine Magistrates Court tomorrow, Wednesday 27th March.



As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.


Officers have have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or who has any information which might assist them with their enquiries, to get in touch.
