Man charged following Co Antrim woman’s death as police prepare manslaughter report


A 41-year-old man is due in court today charged with offences including non-fatal strangulation and domestic abuse following the death of a woman in Newtownabbey.
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team brought the charges following the woman’s death in the Old Mill Drive area on Sunday 12 October 2025.
Police said the man will also be reported to the Public Prosecution Service in respect of the offence of manslaughter. This is separate from the charges announced for today’s court appearance.
Belfast court appearance
The charges include non-fatal strangulation, domestic abuse and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The man is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 9 September.
As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
