Man and teenage boy arrested after woman threatened with knife in Co Tyrone flat

A man and a teenage boy have been arrested after a woman was allegedly threatened with a knife when two suspects entered a flat in Co Tyrone.

Police were called to the Perry Street area of Dungannon at around 12.35pm on Tuesday afternoon following a report that two people had entered the property, where a woman was alone, and threatened her with a knife.

Armed officers and police dog unit respond

Local Policing Team officers attended the scene alongside Armed Response officers and the PSNI Dog Unit.

A 53-year-old man was detained at the property and arrested on suspicion of common assault.

A second suspect, a 16-year-old boy, was arrested nearby a short time later.

He was detained on suspicion of offences including common assault, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, and possession of an article with a blade or point.

Both remain in police custody and are due to be questioned.

Police appeal for information

Police enquiries into the incident are continuing and officers have appealed to anyone who was in the Perry Street area, or who may have information that could assist the investigation, to come forward.
