Man, 77, sadly dies after tractor collision as police appeal for witnesses

77-year-old Dessie Sheridan
A 77-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle collision involving a tractor in the Fintona area outside Omagh.
The man has been named as Dessie Sheridan, 77, from Tattyreagh.
Emergency services were called to the incident in the Tullycunny Road area at around 6pm on Friday evening.
Police, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene. Sadly, Mr Sheridan was pronounced dead at the location.
Investigation underway
Detective Inspector Dave Stewart from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit said officers were alerted to a collision involving a red Massey Ferguson 185 tractor.
He said:
“We were advised around 6pm on Friday of a collision involving a red Massey Ferguson 185 tractor in the Tullycunny Road area.
“Officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended. However, sadly Mr Sheridan was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Police have confirmed that the Tullycunny Road will remain closed for much of today while investigators carry out enquiries.
Appeal for information and dash-cam footage
The Collision Investigation Unit is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has information that could assist investigators, to come forward.
Detective Inspector Stewart added:
“The Tullycunny Road will remain closed for much of today. Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any information which could assist with our investigation – including dash-cam or other footage – to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1346 19/06/26.”

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
