Man (60) arrested in investigation into patient abuse at Muckamore Abbey

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Public Protection Branch investigating the allegations of ill-treatment of patients at Muckamore Abbey hospital have arrested a 60 year old male this morning, Monday 9th May, in the Antrim area.
This takes the total amount of arrests so far to 32.
Last week police arrested a 38-year-old male and a 54-year-old in the Antrim area. Both men were later released, pending report to the Public Prosecution Service.
To date 38 people have now been informed they are to be prosecuted by the Public Prosecution Service for a range of offences, including ill-treatment and wilful neglect contrary to the Mental Health (Northern Ireland) Order 1986, in connection with the alleged ill-treatment of patients at Muckamore Abbey Hospital.
