Make a run for it and sign up to the Antrim Coast Half Marathon

Adrenaline levels will be soaring in two weeks’ time as thousands of runners descend on the starting line to take part in the eagerly awaited Antrim Coast Half Marathon.

There is something for everyone this year, even those who don’t want to attempt the 13 miles round the coast.

For the first time ever an all new classic street mile race will take place ahead of the main event so why not sign up and join in on the fun.

Taking place on Saturday 27 August, renowned Olympic champion Haile Gebrselassie will be taking part in the one mile street race with other inspirational figures such as five time Olympian Jo Pavey.

Locals are being offered the opportunity to pit themselves against the very best in the world with adults and children all being encouraged to get in on the action.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Noel Williams, said:

“The Antrim Coast Half Marathon promises to be a fantastic family event that everyone can get involved in no matter what level of fitness.

“We are delighted to be key sponsors of the half marathon which is a world-class event in Mid and East Antrim.

“This event really does put our Borough on the map and that is evidenced by the number of competitors travelling from so far afield to take part.”

The one-mile loop has been officially measured and verified and all participants will receive a t-shirt & race medal.

Capacity for the one mile street race is capped at 1,000 so please enter early to avoid disappointment.

Proudly supported by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, the half marathon will take place on Sunday 28 August – with a host of elite sporting stars taking to the starting line in Larne to race along the spectacular Antrim Coast Road.

Also this year the event is going eco with Half Marathon and street mile finishers being presented with a recycled wooden medal in a move to make the race more sustainable.

As well as the race events, a raft of activities are planned in Larne throughout race weekend, including free family entertainment at Sandy Bay, and pop-up entertainment along the course route.

Some of the entertainment will include Downshire Brass Band, Cullybacky Pipe Band and even Stormy Stan will be making an appearance to help the Mayor start the race!
