A major search and rescue operation got underway on Thursday afternoon, 19th October, on the Antrim coast after it was reported a woman got into difficulties in the water.
Two ambulances, along with Red Bay RNLI’s all-weather and inshore lifeboats and Larne RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat, and HM Coastguard helicopter rushed to the scene at Glenarm Marina.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard confirmed that it coordinated a search for the woman after the alarm was raised at 12:55pm.
The spokesperson added:
"The woman was picked up by an HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter for transfer to hospital."
There are no further details at present on the casualty's condition.
