Lough Neagh Rescue tasked after digger falls into water with person trapped

The volunteers of Lough Neagh Rescue were tasked on Monday morning (24 May 2021) after a digger fell into the water in the vicinity of Ballyginniff, Antrim, trapping the driver.


A spokesperson for Lough Neagh Rescue said:


“Lifeboats (were) paged at 9:44am by Belfast Coastguard to reports that a digger had fallen into the water in the vicinity of Ballyginniff, with one person trapped.


“Lifeboats made best speed and rescued one casualty from the digger.


“The individual was transported to Antrim Marina where medical treatment was given. The individual was then handed into the care of Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.


“Lifeboats where cleaned, refuelled and made ready for service.”
