Looking good MEA | Village Renewal Projects continue to progress towards completion

As restrictions ease and we all begin to find a new normal, we are delighted to report that work is continuing throughout the borough on a number of Village Renewal Projects.

The Village Renewal Scheme is funded through the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA).

Some of the projects where work continues to progress well include:-

• Ahoghill – Woodland Park

• Gracehill – Walking route at God’s Acre

• Cullybackey – Provision of a MUGA and a Children’s Play Area

• Kells & Connor – Sports Pavilion

• Glenarm – Seating and picnic facilities

adjacent to the play area and car park

• Ballystrudder – Community Garden

The work at the majority of the sites is due to complete before the end of the summer, with the Cullybackey project finalising in the Autumn.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council have been developing the Village Renewal Programme for over two years and 18 villages in total will benefit from £2.5 million of funding.

The programme is funded by Council and DAERA with support from the European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development.
