One of Ballymena’s longest-established insurance brokers has been acquired by a major UK insurance broking group, with customers told their cover, contacts and local branches will remain unchanged.

McCarroll McConnell & Co. Ltd confirmed this week that the business has been recently acquired by Adler Fairways Insurance Group, marking a significant new chapter for the long-running local firm which has served the area for more than 50 years.

The announcement was made in a letter issued to customers, in which the company moved quickly to reassure clients that day-to-day service will continue as normal.

More than 50 years in business

Established more than five decades ago, McCarroll McConnell is one of the best-known insurance brokers in the Ballymena area.

From its early beginnings in a town centre office, the company has grown steadily over the years and is now based in a large commercial unit at Pennybridge Industrial Estate.

It is understood that more than 30 people are employed by the business.

The acquisition represents a major development for the long-established local company, while maintaining its existing presence in both Ballymena and Ballymoney.

Customer service and local teams to remain in place

In its letter to customers, McCarroll McConnell said its long-standing focus on personal service would remain at the heart of the business.

The company said:

“From the outset, our priority has always been to provide our clients with the highest standard of advice, service, and insurance solutions carefully tailored to individual needs.

“Delivering a personal, professional service remains central to everything we do and we are sincerely grateful for the trust, loyalty and support you have shown us over the years.”

The firm said the decision followed “careful consideration” about how to strengthen its offering and provide additional value to customers.

It added:

“After careful consideration of how we can further strengthen our offering and continue to deliver even greater value to our clients, we are pleased to announce that McCarroll McConnell & Co. Ltd has been acquired by Adler Fairways Insurance Group, a leading and highly respected independent UK insurance broking group.”

Business name, branches and staff unchanged

A key message in the announcement is that customers will continue dealing with the same local teams they already know.

McCarroll McConnell confirmed it will continue to trade under its existing name, with no changes to its Ballymena and Ballymoney branches.

The letter stated:

“McCarroll McConnell & Co. Ltd will continue to trade under its existing name. Both Ballymena and Ballymoney branches will remain unchanged with all the staff, that you have got to know so well over the years, continuing to provide you with an excellent service as always.

“This will now be supplemented by additional resources and the market access of Adler Fairways.”

That means customers can continue using the same contact details and speaking with the same advisers.

Who are Adler Fairways?

Adler Fairways is a nationally recognised independent insurance broking group with more than 40 years’ experience and offices across the UK.

Headquartered in England, the group has offices in London, Birmingham and several other locations.

McCarroll McConnell said the group’s approach closely matches its own.

The company added:

“Their team shares our commitment to understanding each client’s individual needs and delivering expert advice, proactive risk management and tailored insurance solutions.

“This strong alignment of values makes this an exciting step forward for our business and our clients.”
