Fire Service mounts rescue operation after bull falls into slurry tank in Ballymena

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) launched a rescue operation yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 13 October) after a bull entered a slurry tank in a farm outside Ballymena.

Appliances were tasked to the scene of the incident at Carclinty Road, Cullybackey, at 2.34pm yesterday.


Crews from Ballymena, Kilrea, Central and Ballymoney Fire Stations attended along with the Animal Rescue Team from Omagh Fire Station.


A spokesperson for NIFRS commented:


“Firefighters were called to reports of a bull stuck in a slurry tank. Firefighters used a reach pole and slings to rescue the bull. The incident was dealt with by 4.35pm.”
