A day of activities has taken place at Great Victoria Street station to mark the last day of passenger services ahead of the opening of Belfast Grand Central Station in the Autumn.
Some 150 local schoolchildren were invited to Great Victoria Street station to participate in an art project and passengers and passers-by were treated to performances from the Translink Choir, City of Belfast Youth Orchestra String Quartet and in the evening, a Ukelele band provided the entertainment.
Great Victoria Street has been a key rail station for the region for some 185 years since first opening in 1839. It played a significant role in several key moments in history including both World Wars, facilitating ambulance trains in the first and American troops in training for D-Day during the second.
People will still be able to access Belfast City Centre during the phase where Great Victoria Street Closes and Belfast Grand Central opens in the autumn.
During this time, other Belfast stations such as Botanic and City Hospital remain open.
Translink has also introduced enhanced Metro, Ulsterbus and Goldliner services as well as Park and Ride timetables.
New train timetables come into effect on Saturday, 11th May. Translink encourages anyone using its services to check before they travel, using the Translink website or Journey Planner App.
The Europa Bus centre remains open until Belfast Grand Central has its operational opening this autumn.
Belfast Grand Central Station will be the largest integrated transport hub on the island of Ireland, significantly increasing both rail and bus capacity. This provides Translink the ability to have more services for passengers travelling to destinations across Northern Ireland and beyond.
