BBC Radio Ulster’s much-loved choral celebration, BBC Sing!, is set to return in 2026 with a brand-new four-part series recorded at venues across Northern Ireland.

The programme, which brings together community choirs from right across the region, will feature four special recording events taking place in Ballymena, Newry, Omagh and Newtownabbey.

Each event will see a local BBC community choir take centre stage, celebrating the power of collective singing and the unique spirit of their community.

Once again, the series will be presented by BBC Weather’s Geoff Maskell, who will guide audiences through the performances and join singers in celebrating the joy of music-making.

Speaking ahead of the new series, Geoff Maskell said:

“I am delighted to be involved with BBC Sing! again this year. It is always a privilege to bring people together to make music. I’m really looking forward to meeting, and joining in with, our wonderful singers from right across Northern Ireland.”

A musical journey through the decades

For the 2026 series, each participating choir will perform songs from a specific decade, with themes spanning the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. The decade-based format is designed to evoke memories, spark nostalgia and showcase the enduring appeal of popular music across generations.

Adding to the excitement, each recording will feature a special guest artist, giving singers the opportunity to perform alongside a professional musician and making every programme a unique musical experience for both performers and listeners.

Celebrating community and connection

BBC Sing! has become known for its strong human interest appeal, highlighting stories of friendship, resilience and shared passion for music within local choirs. From seasoned singers to those discovering their voice for the first time, the series offers a platform for people of all ages and backgrounds to represent their area and be part of a region-wide celebration of song.

Organisers say the 2026 series aims to continue that tradition, encouraging communities to come together, raise their voices and share their love of music with a wider audience.
