Ballymena United have today (Wednesday 31 May) confirmed Jim Ervin as the next manager at the club. It comes after former boss David Jeffrey parted company with the Sky Blues after his side’s defeat to Crusaders in the recent Irish Cup Final.

At the time United said that Jeffrey had left the club by “mutual consent”.

In a short statement today, United spokesperson said:

"Jim Ervin will become the 34th manager in the history of club, immediately taking position following his retirement from playing, as he pens a 3 year deal.

"Ervin is no stranger to the Sky Blues, making 277 appearances across 8 seasons as part of a long and distinguished playing career. Ervin won 14 medals at Linfield before captaining the Sky Blues to two further trophies during his time here, and will aim to turn his influence as a captain into one of a manager as he leads the club into a new era."
