Ballymena has a brand new family business opening it’s doors this weekend.

Wee Maisie’s, based at Raceview Mill in Broughshane, will be stocked full of beautiful, quirky and unique gift ideas, along with a selection of cards and crafts, when the store opens on Saturday (15 August) at 12pm.

Rachael Duff has established Wee Maisie’s with her family at the core of the new venture. Married to Michael, the couple have two children - Noah (8), and Faith (2), and it will be all hands on deck this weekend!

“Life is busy but lots of fun,” Rachael said.

We were keen to find out the inspiration behind Wee Maisie’s; we knew there must be a loved lady behind the business’ quaint name.

Rachael explained: “Maisie is my Granny. At 80 years young she is feisty, fiery and fabulous. If you call to the shop you might find her keeping me company - don't worry - her bark is worse than her bite!“

Excited and looking forward to the opening on Saturday, Rachael continued: “Our aim is to provide affordable gifts to suit all occasions.

“We are based in a delightful little unit within Raceview Mill in the award winning village of Broughshane, County Antrim. From here we also offer a selection of personalised items including frames, acrylic and wood.

“You will also find a range of products from other Northern Irish suppliers - most of which can also be found on our website that we have just launched!”

The designs are images from around Northern Ireland – making it the perfect gift for anyone who loves NI! Perfect mix’n’match selection, or pop one inside a card for the tea lover in your life!

“We pride ourselves on customer service and we look forward to getting to know you all! We also welcome any ideas and suggestions - if we don't have what you're looking for, we will certainly try our best to get it for you!”

Rachael, Michael and the family are looking forward to welcoming you to their new business and step of faith.... maybe even wee Maisie too!
