Emergency services respond to serious road traffic collision between school bus and car
There has been a serious road traffic collision this morning (Thursday 7 October) on the Cullybackey Road, Ballymena, involving a school bus and a car.
It is understood the bus was travelling along the Cullybackey Road, transporting children to Cullybackey College when the collision occurred, understood to be at the Woodtown Road junction.
Children were taken off the bus and it is believed that there have been no serious injuries among the pupils.
Fire Service used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove a male from the car involved in the collision.
Emergency services including police, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, Emergency Response Doctor and Air Ambulance have attended the scene.
The road is currently closed (0955) and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes.
A police spokesperson commented:
”Motorists are advised the Cullybackey Road in Ballymena is closed in both directions following a two vehicle road traffic collision.
“Diversions are in place at the junction with Woodstown Road and the junction with Inishowen Park, please seek alternate routes for your journey.”
