Three horses killed in collisions near Belfast International Airport


Three horses have sadly been died after escaping from the Ballyrobin Road area, near Belfast International Airport, this evening - Tuesday 11 January.

It is understood around 10 horses in total made their way onto the roads around the airport and a number were filmed walking through the car parks, were a number of travellers were bemused by the sight as they left the terminal.


A police spokesperson confirmed the tragic news saying, “Three horses died as a result of collisions involving vehicles travelling on the Ballyrobin Road on Tuesday evening.”

The road was closed for a short time whilst officers cleared a number of other horses from the carriageway but has since re-opened.


Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.
