Harryville and Clonavon residents invited to showcase their community pride

Residents across Harryville and Clonavon are being encouraged to put their homes forward for a new competition celebrating the everyday efforts helping to improve both neighbourhoods.

The Harryville and Clonavon Best Kept Property Competition offers cash prizes of up to £100, with judging due to take place from Monday 14 to Friday 18 September 2026.

Small efforts can make a difference

Organisers have stressed that entrants do not need elaborate gardens or professionally presented homes to take part.

A tidy frontage, clean garden or other small signs that a resident cares for their property could all be recognised.

The competition carries the message:

“It’s not about perfection — it’s about pride.”

Residents can enter by taking photographs of their property and emailing them to harryvilleclonavonrandr@gmail.com. Professional photographs are not required.

Cash prizes for five properties

The winning property will receive £100, with £80 awarded for second place, £60 for third, £40 for fourth and £20 for fifth.

Consolation prizes will also be presented, with all awards due to be handed out at a special community event.

The initiative is being organised through Harryville and Clonavon Recovery and Regeneration as part of continuing efforts to encourage pride in the appearance of the two areas.

‘The areas have come on leaps and bounds’

Ballymena councillor Rodney Quigley has encouraged people throughout the community to get involved.

He said:

“The Best Kept Property competition gives people an opportunity to showcase their homes, with the added incentive of a small reward.

“The Harryville and Clonavon areas have come on leaps and bounds, particularly over the past 15 months.

“There is still work to be done, but with the input of the Harryville and Clonavon regeneration groups, alongside initiatives such as the Best Kept Property competition, residents have an opportunity to demonstrate the pride they have in the areas where they live.”

Judging will take place between 14 and 18 September.
