ReStore Volunteer Coordinator Matt Robinson will be providing free training for local people in Ballymena.

Habitat for Humanity has launched a new Retail Ready training course in Ballymena, offering local people the chance to gain practical retail experience, accredited qualifications, and improved job prospects – all at no cost.

The initiative, supported by The Gallaher Trust, will run from Habitat ReStore Ballymena and is designed to give participants the skills, confidence, and tailored support they need to enter employment.

Habitat ReStore, a low-cost DIY and home improvement store, is already well known for building stronger communities by selling donated materials at affordable prices, providing training and volunteering opportunities, and reducing landfill waste.

Matt Robinson, Volunteer Coordinator at ReStore Ballymena, said:

“The Retail Ready training will build on the positive impact we already see for local people and the wider community at ReStore.

“The three-week course will support individuals to develop the skills and knowledge needed to work in retail and get tailored support to be interview ready. We are excited that this training will provide opportunities for more local people.”

The Retail Ready course is accredited by OCN NI and will run for three weeks, with classes taking place every Tuesday and Thursday from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

The first course begins on Tuesday 9th September at ReStore Ballymena.

Habitat for Humanity said the programme has been designed to be “practical and accessible”, particularly for those who are seeking a qualification, need help refreshing their CV, or want to build confidence for interviews.
