FREE | Summer of fun on the horizon in Mid and East Antrim!

There’s a summer of fun on the horizon in Mid and East Antrim, as bookings are now open for a packed programme of sport, games and activities as part of the MEActive Summer Camps!

We’ve changed the way we are delivering the programme this summer, with more of the activities taking place in the fresh air outdoors, and to ensure your little ones get the most out of the events, our fantastic team of professional MEActive Coaches will be on hand throughout.

All the Summer Programmes are FREE to attend but booking is essential, and there is a wide range of fun games and activities on offer for children aged between six and 12 years-old.

The MEActive Summer Camps will take place in Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne over a three-week period, from 26 July to 11 August, with sessions available either in the morning or afternoon.

From 29 July until 13 August, our Summer Camps will also take to the road twice a week, with an exciting line-up of Summer Roadshows in each of the three towns.

Our popular Inclusive Cycle scheme will continue throughout the summer, with the bikes available to book every Wednesday evening between 4-6pm during the months of June, July (excluding 14 July) and August in Shaftesbury Park, Carrickfergus.

Places are also available for our Inclusive Activity and Golf Camps, with expert, fully trained professionals, on a select number of days throughout July and August.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Councillor William McCaughey, said:

“I am delighted that we are able to offer in-person activities again throughout the Borough, especially as we enter the school holiday period.

“Council is committed to creating opportunities for our citizens, young and old, to improve their health and wellbeing, and the range of events under the MEActive Summer Camps initiative is just fantastic.

“Like so much of our society, children have endured many challenges over the last year, so it is great to see them have the chance to have fun with their friends in the outdoors this summer.”

Places for the MEActive Summer Camps and activities are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please apply early to avoid disappointment.

Participants should wear appropriate clothing for activities outdoors including footwear and are advised to apply sunscreen before arriving.

All activities are subject to revision, addition or cancellation should unforeseen circumstances arise, including weather conditions.
