Four people taken to hospital following collision in Ballymena


Police in Ballymena are investigating an overnight two vehicle road traffic collision in which four people were injured.


Emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision which occurred shortly after midnight on Friday morning, 12th May, at Ballee Road East in the town.



Police confirmed the collision involved a black Peugeot 207 and a silver Volkswagen Golf. Following the incident the road was closed for a number of hours but has since reopened.


A spokesperson for Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said:


"The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 00:09 on Friday, 12 May 2023 following reports of an RTC in the Ballee Road East Area, Ballymena.



"Four emergency Ambulances and the Hazardous Area Response team were tasked to the incident.


"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, four patients were taken to Antrim Area Hospital by ambulance."


Police appealed for information adding:


"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash-cam footage is asked to contact officers at Ballymena on 101 quoting reference number 13 12/05/23."
