Local woman recognised by Housing Executive as ‘Good Neighbour’ in community

Ballykeel ’Good Neighbour’, Sasha Rainnie

Ballymena woman Sasha Rainnie has been recognised by the Housing Executive as a ‘Good Neighbour’ in the organisation’s scheme which was launched over the summer.

The scheme aims to recognise and celebrate the ‘Good Neighbours’ living in the Housing Executive estates - those who look who look out for one another and make where they live better for everyone.

Commenting on Sasha’s nomination and selection, a spokesperson for the Housing Executive said:

“Sasha Rainnie is one of our ‘Good Neighbours’ living in Ballymena. She's the go-to person on her estate and is an advocate for residents. Sasha recently helped her community group create a wonderful community garden.”

Sasha is 1 of 20 ‘Good Neighbours’ who were chosen out of dozens from across Northern Ireland.

“As a landlord, responsible for managing nearly 85,000 homes, we know good neighbours make great neighbourhoods,” the Housing Executive spokesperson stated.

“Earlier this year, we asked our staff and Housing Community Network members to nominate people who have made a difference in their community.

“After receiving dozens of nominations, we selected 20 ‘Good Neighbours’, from across Northern Ireland, to recognise and to thank.

“Each of these wonderful neighbours have gone the extra mile to care for vulnerable people, enrich the lives of others, and create a real sense of civic pride in their local area.

“This has been especially important during the pandemic, when neighbours came together to support those who needed it most throughout this uncertain time.”

Well done Sasha!
