Staff shortages hit Coleraine – Belfast buses

A number of bus services have been cancelled by Translink due to staff shortages over the past week.

The service most affected is the popular 218 Goldline service operating from Coleraine to Belfast and Belfast to Coleraine which also services areas such as Ballymoney, Ballymena and Antrim.

The services affected today, (Tuesday, September 21) are:

08:15 – 218 service from Coleraine

10:15 – 218 service from Coleraine

16:15 – 218 service from Coleraine

10:15 – 218 service from Belfast

12:15 – 218 service from Belfast

18:15 – 218 service from Belfast

In a statement to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, a Translink spokesperson said:

“The recent 218 service cancellations were due to driver shortages, unrelated to Covid.

“We are actively recruiting for bus drivers and a number of drivers are currently progressing through our training academy to boost staff numbers.

“We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused.”
