Fairhill Shopping Centre’s £10 million redevelopment has reached a major milestone with confirmation that Primark will officially open its new Ballymena store on Friday 5th December at 10am.

The long-anticipated arrival of Primark marks a turning point for Fairhill and a renewed sense of optimism for Ballymena’s retail sector.

The major fashion retailer’s new 29,000 sq. ft store is set to become the centrepiece of Fairhill’s multi-million-pound investment programme, which has transformed the shopping destination throughout 2024 and 2025.

Over the past two years, Fairhill has undergone significant regeneration, including refreshed mall areas, upgraded customer facilities, and a striking new brand identity aimed at attracting leading retail names to Ballymena.

Ryan Walker, owner of Fairhill Shopping Centre, said the opening represents a defining moment for the town:

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Primark to Fairhill. This opening marks a significant milestone and reflects our shared commitment to creating vibrant, engaging spaces for our community.

“Primark is a much-loved brand, and we’re confident it will be a fantastic addition, driving new energy and footfall. We look forward to building a strong partnership with Primark for many years to come and supporting their continued growth and success here at Fairhill.”

Fairhill’s investment has already begun to reshape the town’s retail landscape, helping reinvigorate Ballymena’s position as a leading shopping destination in Northern Ireland.

Alongside the redevelopment, several new retail brands have joined the centre’s line-up, complementing existing favourites such as Marks & Spencer, Next, H&M, Superdry, JD Sports, River Island, Jack & Jones and New Look.

The addition of Primark — one of the UK and Ireland’s most popular high street brands — is expected to bring a significant economic boost, creating new jobs and driving increased footfall both in Fairhill and across Ballymena town centre.

Spanning 29,000 sq. ft, the new Primark will feature an expanded fashion range across womenswear, menswear and childrenswear, alongside homeware and beauty collections.

Shoppers will also find items from Primark’s sustainability-focused ‘Primark Cares’ range, reflecting the retailer’s ongoing commitment to affordable, ethical fashion.

The store’s modern layout will feature spacious aisles, contemporary fittings and improved customer flow, enhancing the shopping experience for local customers and visitors alike.

Primark Ballymena’s move to Fairhill builds on the retailer’s 40-year history in the town, relocating from its original Tower Centre store to a larger, more modern location.

The new store will employ 150 people in total, including around 70 new jobs, reinforcing the positive local economic impact of Fairhill’s wider investment.

With upgraded spaces, enhanced amenities and a revitalised brand, the centre is well positioned to attract visitors, create jobs, and strengthen Ballymena’s economy.

As the countdown begins to the Primark opening on 5th December, excitement is building for what promises to be a landmark moment for both Fairhill and the wider community.
