Dog lovers are invited to go behind the scenes at Dogs Trust Ballymena’s Experience Day this summer, where they’ll meet adorable adoptable dogs, explore the rehoming centre’s newly renovated facilities, and get a first-hand look at the charity’s vital day-to-day work.
Set to take place on Saturday 5th July from 10am to midday, the Experience Day is free to attend with tickets now available on Eventbrite.
Following the success of its inaugural event last year, Dogs Trust Ballymena is opening its doors once again, welcoming supporters, potential adopters, and curious visitors aged 12 and up to take part in a truly heart-warming morning.
Kirsty Mark, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Ballymena, said:
“This is the second Experience Day we have hosted, which follows a very successful event last year. Anyone attending will experience a day in the life at Dogs Trust Ballymena.
“Attendees will be given a behind-the-scenes tour of our centre, enjoy a cuppa and a chat with staff, and, of course, the stars of the show will be the pawsome dogs that are in our care waiting to be adopted.”
Visitors will be treated to a guided tour of the recently upgraded facilities – the result of a significant two-phase redevelopment that began in January 2022 and concluded in July 2024.
Guests will also get hands-on by helping staff create enrichment activities for the dogs, as well as spending time with them during supervised playtime, offering a glimpse into how Dogs Trust ensures the wellbeing and happiness of its four-legged residents.
“We would love to welcome anyone interested in our work, our dogs and who would like to see our fantastic new facilities, which we are all very proud to show off,” added Kirsty.

At present, the Ballymena rehoming centre is caring for 63 dogs, with 55 at the centre and eight in foster homes. Those looking to adopt or browse current residents can do so online at dogstrust.org.uk/ballymena.
Please note: The event is not suitable for pet dogs, so visitors are kindly asked to leave their own pups at home.
