BBC Sounds podcast presenter Eve Blair on location recording Your Farm And Mine
A new BBC podcast is set to shine a fresh light on rural life in Northern Ireland — and at its heart is a presenter who knows exactly what farm life demands.
Your Farm And Mine, a six-part series coming to BBC Sounds, will see Eve Blair step beyond the studio and into farmyards across the country, bringing listeners face to face with the people, animals and graft that shape the agricultural community.
The podcast comes from the team behind Your Place And Mine on BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle and promises a rich mix of personal stories and practical realities. Well-known voices in the farming world will also feature, including Lorraine Killen and Farm Theory’s Andrew Wright.
For Eve, the series is personal.
“I grew up on a family farm in County Tyrone and my brother and dad still work on it. I know how many hands - and how many hearts - it takes. So I want to bring all the fun and all the graft of farm life to our listeners,” she said.
Across the six episodes, listeners will hear a diverse range of stories from farms and farmers throughout Northern Ireland.

At the Moore farm just outside Castlederg, Eve hears how one of their cows birthed five calves — an event with odds of several million to one.
In Ballyalton, County Down, she visits the Kelly family farm where an owl colony is thriving. The birds are among Northern Ireland’s rarest, with fewer than 30 breeding pairs in the country.
In Benbradagh, County Londonderry, sheep farmer Alwyn McFarlane explains the vital role of his sheepdog Moss, who carries out the work of several men single-handedly.
County Tyrone farmer Joel Kerr, known to many online as the Curious Farmer, speaks to Eve about balancing life rearing shorthorn cattle and caring for chickens, alongside running his pie business.
Meanwhile, at Millbank Farm in Killinchy, County Down, sixth-generation farmer Emily McGowan shares the story of land that has been farmed by her family since 1889. Today, alongside sheep, broiler chickens and Highland cows, the farm grows seasonal flowers for summer events and operates a popular farm shop.
Eve also visits Grove Dairy in Castlederg, County Tyrone, where John Mitchell milks more than 700 cows with the help of robotic milking machines — and knows every cow by name.
Through extraordinary moments and everyday dedication, Your Farm And Mine aims to capture both the resilience and the evolving face of farming in Northern Ireland.
The series will be available on BBC Sounds from today, Friday 27 February 2026.
