A dedicated team from Eurospar Cullybackey is lacing up their running shoes for the Moy Park Belfast City Marathon, set to take place next week, in a heartfelt effort to raise vital funds for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland (AANI).
The team, consisting of Andrew Duff, Adam Connolly, Claire Boal, Heather Robinson, and Harvey White, is rallying the local community to support the life-saving work of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), which provides critical care across Northern Ireland.
Air Ambulance NI, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), delivers emergency medical care to those facing life-threatening situations, such as road traffic collisions, cardiac arrests, falls, farm accidents, or sports injuries.

Operating with a doctor and paramedic team, the service can reach any location in Northern Ireland within 25 minutes, bringing hospital-level care directly to the scene. This rapid response is often the difference between life and death, preserving lives and preventing long-term harm.
Community Fundraising Efforts in Full Swing
The Eurospar Cullybackey team has already galvanised local support through a successful quiz night held on Thursday, 24 April, at The Barn, part of Galgorm Castle Kitchen.
The event, generously hosted by the venue, saw enthusiastic participation from the Cullybackey community, with additional support from Fratelli Restaurant at Galgorm Resort. The quiz night marked a strong start to the team’s fundraising campaign, fostering a sense of unity and purpose.
In the days leading up to the marathon, collection buckets have been placed at the tills in Eurospar Cullybackey, inviting customers to contribute to the cause. The team has also set up an online fundraising page, encouraging donations and social media shares to amplify their efforts.
Andrew Duff, speaking on behalf of Team Eurospar Cullybackey, expressed deep appreciation for the community’s generosity:
“We’re overwhelmed by the generosity shown so far. Every donation, no matter how small, helps Air Ambulance NI continue their incredible work. We’re asking everyone to share our fundraising page and, if possible, contribute to this vital service.”
The Moy Park Belfast City Marathon: A Platform for Change
The Moy Park Belfast City Marathon is one of Northern Ireland’s most iconic sporting events, attracting thousands of participants who run, walk, or relay their way to the finish line.
For Team Eurospar Cullybackey, the marathon is more than a physical challenge—it’s an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who rely on Air Ambulance NI’s rapid-response medical team.
The charity’s slogan, “Others Live When You Give,” encapsulates the profound impact of community contributions. Funds raised by the team will directly support AANI’s ability to deploy its HEMS team, ensuring that critical care reaches patients in their moment of greatest need.
With an average of two emergency call-outs per day, the service’s operational costs are significant, making every donation crucial.
A Call to Join #TeamAANI
As race day approaches, Team Eurospar Cullybackey is urging the public to join #TeamAANI by donating, sharing their fundraising page, or offering words of encouragement.
The team’s determination to support Air Ambulance NI reflects the strong community spirit of Cullybackey and the wider Northern Ireland region.
For those inspired to contribute, donations can be made via the team’s fundraising page. Every pound raised will help ensure that AANI’s life-saving service remains available to those in need, from rural communities to urban centres.
With the support of Cullybackey and beyond, Andrew, Adam, Claire, Heather, and Harvey are poised to make a lasting impact through their participation in the Moy Park Belfast City Marathon. Their efforts serve as a powerful reminder of the difference a community can make when united for a common cause.
