Escapes is set to close out the year with a nationwide cinematic treat, offering free preview screenings of Eternity, the new romantic fantasy from acclaimed director David Freyne, on Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 December.
The film, distributed by A24, will officially be released in UK cinemas on Friday 5 December.
The special previews — screening across more than 100 cinemas including Omniplex Antrim — form part of Escapes’ ongoing mission to make cinema accessible to all audiences.
Since its launch in February 2024, the initiative, made possible through National Lottery funding awarded by the BFI, has seen over 180,000 free tickets claimed for screenings of cult classics, award-winning features, and exclusive previews.
A First Look at a Bold Romantic Fantasy

Eternity brings together an acclaimed cast including Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, Callum Turner, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and John Early. Written by Pat Cunnane and produced by Tim White and Trevor White, the film offers what Escapes describes as a “bold, heart-stirring vision of love in the afterlife.”
The story unfolds in a vividly imagined afterlife where souls have just one week to decide where — and with whom — to spend eternity. When protagonist Joan is reunited with her late husband Larry, she learns that her first love, Luke, has been waiting 67 years for her, forcing her into a powerful emotional choice between the life she lived and the life she never had.
Escapes says the film is “lit by captivating performances and David Freyne’s striking visual world,” and becomes “a dazzling, deeply human exploration of love, choice, and what truly makes a life well-lived.”
Championing Accessible Cinema

Escapes has rapidly grown into one of the UK’s most successful audience-building cinema initiatives, supporting independent cinemas and encouraging audiences to rediscover the big-screen experience.
As part of its commitment to accessibility, every screening of Eternity will include descriptive subtitles, ensuring a wider range of filmgoers can enjoy the preview.
Previous Escapes highlights have included free screenings of Point Break, The Penguin Lessons and The Surfer, helping reconnect communities with their local independent venues.
