Enjoy a grand day out for Summer fun

Updated: Aug 11, 2022

With the remaining weeks of summer still to enjoy, and the holiday months being a key time for grandparents to spend with grandkids, Translink is helping Granny and Grandad’s across Northern Ireland plan fun days out by bus or train, exploring the many amazing visitor attractions and experiences NI has to offer.

To help passengers of all ages enjoy their journey as part of a fun-filled day out, Translink has also introduced free Little Explorers activity books. The free booklet will be available at ticket desks in key stations and on-board selected services, giving little ones a passport to adventure on train, bus or glider.

Filled with games, puzzles and plenty of space to let their artistic side shine, the creative pack will keep Little Explorers entertained wherever they’re travelling to. As well as this free booklet, Translink is also sharing ideas for days out and family events across its social channels.

Translink’s Director of Commercial Operations, David Cowan said:

“Summer is the perfect time to get out and about with the grandkids, with so much in Northern Ireland to explore and great family-focused events to enjoy. And if you’re lucky enough to be eligible for a 60+ SmartPass or a Senior SmartPass, you can take advantage of free travel anywhere in Northern Ireland on any Translink bus or train service completely free of charge, making it even more cost effective to enjoy days out with your Little Explorers.”

Plan a fun day out and make the most of a Family & Friends ticket for only £22 for unlimited day travel on all Translink services within Northern Ireland. Or rediscover Belfast with a Metro and Glider Family Day Ticket for just £9 for unlimited day travel. These tickets cover up to 2 adults and 4 children, and to make Summer days out even easier and more affordable there will be no time restrictions on the use of these tickets until end of August.
