The White House Portrush, a renowned family owned department store situated on the beautiful coastline of the North Coast completes the latest investment into a new elevated shopping experience.
Segmented into three sizeable projects, the overall £1m refurbishment is part of a long-term major investment plan headed by Ulster Stores Owner, Neville Moore. The first two phases of works involved the ground and second floors.
Situated on the Main Street of Portrush since 1891, with a rich history and heritage, the department store is an integral part of Portrush. The refurb project of 2022 offers a new look and design to the department store’s first floor, home to the womenswear department and popular restaurant, Trocadero.
Despite the difficulties faced by the high street during the pandemic, the local family have maintained to keep the doors open and the investment project on track, with the hope of achieving another three phases of development works by 2025.
Ulster Stores Owner, Neville Moore explains what customers can expect in store and his excitement for the year and plans ahead:
“We are really delighted to finally launch the new and first floor of The White House, Portrush ahead of summer.
“The first floor now has an art deco feel, with dividing screens to break it up into separate zones, showcasing our sought after and diverse brands.
“The White House is renowned for its casual and outdoor brands such as Regatta, Trespass, Whitestuffand Joules to name a few, but we are now proud to introduce brands such as Barbour Coastal, Lighthouse, Brakeburn and Helly Hanson to the mix.
“Alongside the casual and outdoor brands the store has a substantial offering of trend driven brands, such as Vero Moda, Esprit, Fransa and B-Young with new collections arriving every month. New to the White House is the new leisurewear department, offering fantastic activewear brands such as Under Armour, Only Play, Guess and Esprit Sports.
“The White House is the destination for fashion must haves and accessible styling in the North Coast and beyond.
“This project complements last two renovations when we first launched our new Home Living departmentshowcasing high quality furniture pieces, and revamped our ground floor offering for menswear, accessories, cookshop, local artisan products and gifting. We also took the opportunity to create new customer toilets and back of house facilities for our own colleagues.
“We are so proud to operate in the idyllic location of Portrush to bring a unique shopping experience to locals and visitors. Many consider the seaside town the ‘capital’ of the Causeway Coast as it has become a well-established location and a ‘must visit’ tourist destination offering incredible views and fine places to dine, stay and shop.
“It’s a very exciting year for Portrush with Curry’s Fun Park reopening the doors of former Barry’s on the seafront, which has already welcomed thousands during Easter and early summer, as well as the welcomed news of The Open Golf Championships returning in 2025.
“We have exciting aspirations in store for The White House over the next few years. Portrush is really evolving and people appreciate more than ever the great natural assets that are on their doorstep. The Causeway Coasts outdoor life, food and tasting experiences have been providing great inspiration and we see this as being a significant development opportunity for The White House.”
