Dungiven gears up for biggest-ever Revvv It Up festival as 20,000 visitors expected

Thousands of visitors are expected to descend on Dungiven this weekend as the Revvv It Up Festival returns for its biggest event yet, bringing world-class tractor pulling, live music and family entertainment to the area.

Organisers are expecting more than 20,000 spectators and competitors from across the UK, Ireland and beyond during the three-day festival, which runs from Friday 17 July to Sunday 19 July.

A major boost for the local economy

The scale of the event is expected to provide a significant boost for local businesses, with thousands of visitors spending money on accommodation, hospitality and other services while showcasing the area to a wider audience.

Speaking at the official opening, Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald praised the organisers for building what has become one of Northern Ireland’s fastest-growing family festivals.

“This festival has grown into an impressive event, attracting visitors and competitors from across these islands and much further afield. The scale of what has been created here is remarkable and is a real asset for the local area.

“Events such as Revvv It Up are about much more than tractors and entertainment. They bring people together, support local businesses, showcase the hospitality of this area and wider region, and help attract visitors who contribute to our local economy. They also create opportunities for families and communities to enjoy a unique experience together.

“As we officially open the festival, I want to wish all competitors the very best of luck over the coming days, and I hope everyone attending enjoys a safe, successful and memorable weekend.”

Europe’s largest dedicated tractor pulling venue

The festival is organised by BRM Utility Services, which has invested heavily in developing the Dungiven site into what organisers describe as the largest tractor pulling venue in Europe, featuring four competition tracks.

This year’s programme includes world-class tractor pulling, live country music, monster trucks, lawn mower racing, tug-of-war competitions, family attractions, children’s entertainment and a large food village.

Organisers say more than 600,000 horsepower of machinery will be on site across the weekend.

Supporting local charities

As well as attracting visitors, the festival also raises money for charity. This year’s nominated charities are RNIB Northern Ireland and Pulmonary Fibrosis NI, with part of the event’s proceeds being donated to both organisations.
