Donnelly Group, Northern Ireland's biggest family-owned vehicle retailer, has successfully raised £19,043 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Team members took part in a series of events and activities such as Dragon Boat Racing, Movember, Abseiling, Dress Down Friday and Coffee Mornings, to raise the significant funds for the Group’s charity partner.

Roisin Donnelly, a spokesperson for the Donnelly Group, said:

“Macmillan Cancer Support was our first ever charity partner selected by employees from our nine locations in Northern Ireland.

“This is a cause close to many of our hearts and with colleagues from right across Northern Ireland, it was really important we raised money for a charity that would benefit local people and their families.

“Our original fundraising calendar of events and activities had to regularly reviewed and updated in line with the Covid-19 restrictions, but even despite that our staff really stepped up and raised more than we expected.

“The dedication of our staff to continuously raise funds over the last 18 months will really make a difference to those living with cancer in our local community.

“We admire the incredible service and support Macmillan Cancer Support offers when people are going through an incredible tough time and are thrilled we can make such a contribution.”

In Northern Ireland, approximately 30 people are diagnosed with cancer every day.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides physical, emotional, practical and financial support.

Stefani Mearns, Senior Fundraising Manager for MacMillan Cancer Support, said:

“We are always truly grateful for any support received and every Pound raised, but no more so than over the last 18 months.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has presented a number of challenges for people already living with the tragic circumstances of cancer.

“At Macmillan, we have adapted to make more of our resources available virtually to ensure those living with cancer can still safely benefit from the support we can provide.

“We are so appreciative of the Donnelly Group’s support and the dedication of all the employees who went out of their way to raise money for those in need.

“On behalf of all at Macmillan Cancer Support I would like to thank every single person who took part in the activities or who made a donation.

“We are blown away by the kindness of those who have still been motivated to help others throughout the pandemic.”
