Dobbies Garden Centres has officially ushered in the 2025 festive season with the arrival of 40,000 real Christmas trees across its UK stores — including its popular Antrim and Lisburn locations.
The newly arrived stock includes a wide selection of 1ft to 9ft trees, with 30,000 freshly cut varieties and 10,000 pot-grown options now available.
Prices start from £20, giving customers in Lisburn and Antrim a broad choice for creating their perfect Christmas display.
Shoppers can choose from a range of sustainably grown trees, including pot-grown Nordmann Fir, Blue Spruce, Serbian Spruce, Noble Fir and Norway Spruce. Freshly cut options include Nordmann Fir and Fraser Fir, with slimmer silhouettes suitable for compact homes.
Sustainably grown in Scotland
Dobbies’ real trees are grown in partnership with Needlefresh at environmentally managed farms across Scotland.
Each tree starts from specially selected seeds taken from hand-picked cones. These are dried, nurtured into seedlings and then pruned by specialist growers to create the best possible shape.
The process, which is carried out by hand, ensures each tree develops a balanced, bushy form while reducing any impact on local wildlife.
Expert tips for choosing and caring for your Christmas tree
Dobbies’ Plant Buyer, Nigel Lawton, has offered guidance to help customers select and maintain their perfect tree throughout the festive season.
Nigel said:
“Before you come to Dobbies to choose your real tree, make sure to measure the height, depth and width of your ideal Christmas tree space, and bring a tape measure to the store to double check the dimensions. However, don’t worry if your tree is a little too big when you get it home as you can always trim it to fit the space.
“Once you get your tree home, keep it outside in a sheltered area, cut one inch off the base of the trunk and stand in a bucket of water until you are ready to bring it indoors - this will help reduce needle drop.
“Once you bring your tree inside, position it in its water holding stand and ensure the water reservoir is topped up on a regular basis to make it last throughout the season. Ideally, you’ll want to position your tree away from any radiators or heat sources as this can cause the needles to dry out faster.”
