Family, friends and community have paid a fitting tribute to Aurelia Kelly, a local lady who sadly lost her life following a recent road traffic collision, by donating one tonne of food to the Ballymena Foodbank.
Aurelia lived a life that was deep and full, making an impact upon many that will not be forgotten. The kind and caring lady was described by many as having a ‘heart of gold’ and someone who always thought of others.
The Ballymena Foodbank was a charity that was always close to Aurelia’s heart and one that she organised collections for from her own home.

She appreciated how the local organisation could practically make a difference to those families in need in the community, not only at Christmas, but throughout the whole year.
This Christmas will be very different for the Kelly family, but Aurelia’s husband Trevor, son Andrew and daughter-in-law Laura, and daughter Rebecca, decided the best way to honour the memory of wife and mum, Aurelia, was by continuing her work and ministry by collecting food for donation to those in need.

It was a special and poignant moment when Trevor, with support from his family, was able to deliver a tonne of food donations to the Ballymena Foodbank this week. It was a tribute of love fitting for Aurelia.
Trevor thanked everyone for their support, saying:
“Friends, neighbours, local churches and family have been really very generous. It is such a tribute to Aurelia's legacy. We hope to do this on an annual basis in order to help support those in need.
“Today we dropped off approximately one ton of food at the foodbank. There is still some more to go. An indication of what our friends, neighbours and church thought of Aurelia Kelly.
“Thanks to everyone for your support, including Wrightbus and Groggan Primary School, it has been a tremendous comfort.”
A spokesperson for Ballymena Foodbank commented:
“We are honoured that Aurelia wanted to support the Foodbank and that her legacy will continue. Thanks to Trevor, Andrew and the greater family circle.”
