Detectives at scene of shooting in Belfast

Detectives are currently at the scene of a shooting incident at the Creeslough Walk area of west Belfast this evening (Sunday 25th October).

Detective Sergeant Gardiner said: “Shortly after 8:15pm, It was reported to police that two men dressed in dark clothes brought a man into an alleyway in the area. It was reported the men then shot the man in his left leg. The men are believed to have made off towards the Suffolk Road area following the incident.

“The man, aged in his 40’s was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

“Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, we are treating this shooting incident as a paramilitary style assault. Those responsible for this barbaric act do not represent the interests of this community, nor do they contribute anything to it. They do it to try and exert influence, or gain control of those they claim to represent.

“An investigation is underway and I would urge anyone with any information to call detectives on 101 quoting reference number 1619 25/10/20.
