Two men arrested after car on fire discovered in field in Ballymena



Two men have been arrested after police received a report of a vehicle on fire outside Ballymena just after 8.35pm on Sunday night, 9 January.

Crews from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) along with police officers attended the scene of the incident where a car was discovered in a field on the Caherty Road area of Broughshane.


A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said:


Officers attended, and two men, aged in their twenties, were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including driving when unfit through drink or drugs, using a motor vehicle without insurance and failing to stop at, remain at and report an accident where damage was caused.


“Both men remain in custody, assisting with enquiries.”




Police have asked anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have dashcam footage is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1426 of 9/1/22.
