The wait is over for fans of the hit psychological game show — The Traitors Ireland will premiere on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Sunday, 31 August, with Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney leading the charge into a world of deception, intrigue and high-stakes mind games.
The series, filmed on the banks of the River Boyne at the historic Slane Castle, promises “chaos, suspicion and stylish skulduggery” as strangers compete for a €50,000 prize — while secretly trying to outwit, outlast and outmanoeuvre one another.
“The Traitors walk amongst them, sowing doubt and deceit at every turn,” RTÉ teased in its official announcement.
In this tense new Irish adaptation of the global hit format, contestants must avoid being “murdered” or “banished” in the game. The catch? Some players are secretly Traitors, working together to eliminate the others without being detected.
Audiences can expect conniving glances over banquet breakfasts, hushed conspiracies in castle corridors and drama intense enough to make viewers doubt even their own instincts.
As tension builds and alliances crumble, one question will hang over every episode: who’s lying, who’s loyal, and who’s next?
A deeper dive: The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked

Following each episode, Kevin McGahern will host The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked, giving fans an insider’s look at the show’s biggest betrayals, manipulations and strategies.
This companion programme — available on RTÉ television, RTÉ Player and all major podcast platforms — will feature celebrity guests, game analysis, unseen footage and exclusive interviews with the most recently “banished” or “murdered” players.
Filmed at RTÉ Limerick, Uncloaked will also capture the moment when some players discover the true identities of the Traitors for the very first time.
With its grand setting, gripping gameplay and host known for her sharp wit, The Traitors Ireland is set to become a must-watch event on the Irish TV calendar.
As RTÉ puts it: “The Traitors Ireland is coming; you won’t want to miss it.”
