Cloughmills Post Office is set to move to a new location this November, ensuring the continuation of services for local residents while significantly extending opening hours.
The branch will relocate from 17 Main Street, Cloughmills to EUROSPAR, 11 Main Street, Cloughmills, BT44 9LF, with the existing office closing at 5pm on Tuesday 4 November.
The new branch is due to open just three days later, on Friday 7 November at 1pm.
The change follows the resignation of the long-serving postmistress, with the new Post Office being incorporated into the refurbished EUROSPAR store.
Daily service and extended hours
The new Cloughmills Post Office will operate seven days a week, from 9am to 9pm, offering 84 hours of service.
This marks an additional 38 hours and 30 minutes each week, with later evening availability, Saturday afternoons, and all-day Sunday opening now included.
A Post Office spokesperson said:
“We are delighted to be able to continue Post Office services in Cloughmills at a new location, with a brand-new operator and greatly improved opening hours for the community.”
The relocated branch will be housed within a dedicated area of the store, with a serving position integrated at the retail counter.
Interim arrangements
During the brief closure period, customers can access services at nearby branches including:
Clough Post Office, 5A Main Street, Clough, Ballymena, BT44 9RJ
Dunloy Post Office, 26 Main Street, Dunloy, Ballymena, BT44 9AA
Improved access and facilities
The new site is located just 25 metres from the current branch and will feature on-site parking, including dedicated disabled bays.
Plans are also in place for EUROSPAR to add a marked pedestrian walkway across the petrol station forecourt to improve safety and ease of access.
The Post Office added:
“We are confident that this move will provide a modern, accessible, and more convenient service that meets the needs of customers in Cloughmills.”
