Two men accused of kidnap and attempted murder of man found in field in Ballymena


Two men have appeared by videolink in Ballymena Magistrate’s Court this morning, Thursday 25 November 2021, charged with of the kidnap and attempted murder of a man in the town.


David Coleman (36) from Fountain Place, Ballymena, and Mark Bradshaw (51) from High Street, Ballymena, stood accused of attempted murder. Further charges were brought for kidnapping, possession of a controlled drug, and arson.


The charges are connected to an incident in the town on 11 October, when an injured man was found early in the morning in a field off the Lisnamurrican Road.

He had sustained a number of wounds and was treated at the scene by NIAS staff before being taken to hospital where his condition was described as serious.


Police subsequently arrested four men on 3 November, including Coleman and Bradshaw.

Yesterday, Wednesday 24 November, police teams were seen entering a property in the Fountain Place area of Ballymena, at an address linked to Coleman.

At this morning’s hearing, a PSNI Detective Inspector stated that he could connect connect the accused to the charges.


District Judge Nigel Broderick remanded both men into custody and adjourned the case to be heard in Ballymena Magistrates Court on December 16.
