Newly elected Ulster Unionist Party Councillor for Ballymena Colin Crawford has thanked the local community for their support in last Thursday's Local Government Elections.

Commenting after his election, Cllr Crawford said:

"I am beyond grateful that the people of Ballymena have placed their trust in me to be one of their representatives on Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. As a lifelong resident of our town, it is the honour of a lifetime to be your voice in local government.

"Over the past weeks, I have been overwhelmed by the support I have received from across our community. I have heard your frustrations on the doorsteps during this campaign and I am here to be your voice for positive change in Ballymena. I am committed to bringing a new approach to politics founded on listening to all voices in our community.

"This result would not have been possible without the enduring support of my family, friends and campaign team. I am particularly proud to have restored Ulster Unionist Party representation to Ballymena. Special thanks are owed to Robin Swann MLA and my Election Agent Stephen Nicholl for their guidance and encouragement throughout my campaign."

Cllr Crawford concluded: "I am already looking forward to building on my work in our community. Irrespective of how you voted on Polling Day, I am here to be your voice as we work to make Ballymena the best possible town for everyone that calls it home."
