Remembering Maggie

The Coast Road Darts Team in Glenarm have once again shown their community spirit by raising an impressive £5,100 for Air Ambulance NI, in memory of Maggie Black, who tragically passed away almost four years ago from undiagnosed Addison’s Disease.

The team gathered at the Coast Road Inn, which kindly hosted the fundraising event, for the official cheque presentation.

Representatives from Air Ambulance NI, including charity staff member Kerry Anderson, attended to personally thank the team for their ongoing dedication.

Speaking at the event, Brian Black said:

“We are all committed to keeping Maggie’s memory alive and support Air Ambulance, such an important charity for the community.”

The annual darts competition saw 60 players take part this year, along with the addition of a new auction, which helped boost the total raised.

Kerry Anderson expressed the charity’s gratitude, saying:

“We are very grateful to the Coast Road Dart Team for their continued fundraising to help future patients of the service.

“The Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) is tasked on average twice a day to critically ill or injured people in our community anywhere across the province. This is only possible with continued public support to ensure it is there for us all.”

The Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) is delivered through a partnership between the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance NI.

The charity needs to raise £3 million each year to keep the helicopter operational and ensure this potentially lifesaving service remains available across Northern Ireland.

Air Ambulance NI is also encouraging the public to consider becoming members of its Club AANI or Junior Club AANI. For an annual or monthly subscription, members receive regular updates and an invitation to the charity’s annual members’ barbecue. Collectively, members’ contributions fund two days of the service each month.
